Where to watch Coherence (US)
Five nights in a living room
Coherence was shot over five nights in the director's own living room for around $50,000. The actors never got a full script. Each night they were handed notes about their own character and nothing else, so a lot of the confusion and panic you see on screen is real. A comet passes over Earth during a dinner party, the power goes out, and the friends notice the house down the street looks exactly like theirs.
Low-budget sci-fi films don't get better
From there it turns into a puzzle box that keeps getting stranger, and the improvised dialogue makes it feel like you're in the room with them. Nothing here cost money except the ideas. If you love films that make you want to grab a notepad and draw diagrams, this is the one.
