Where to watch The Mighty Quinn (US)
An island police chief and a murder
Denzel Washington plays a Caribbean police chief investigating a brutal killing while the corrupt local authorities try to pin it on his mischievous childhood friend. The investigation drifts across the island with reggae in the background and a laid-back sense of humour under the murder story, and you even get Denzel at a battered bar piano singing a blues number with the locals.
Settle into the Caribbean rhythm
Under all the sunshine, it takes a few sharp shots at the divide between wealthy visitors and the people who actually live on the island. Denzel is completely at home, and the cast plays off each other so naturally that you can just relax into it. A seriously underrated, delightfully offbeat mystery.
